Department: Trade and Technical Division
Reports to: Instructional Manager
FLSA Designation: Exempt
Nature of Duties: Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests; maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences; ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area; meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues; assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Position will teach Welding courses for certificate programs while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Position may require committee and project assignments as well as day or evening activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have completed a postsecondary training program in welding at an accredited private or public postsecondary institution.
- Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
- Must have a minimum of one year recent, verifiable field experience.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population.
- Computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years of recent, verifiable field experience
- Teaching experience at the postsecondary level and/or extensive in field experience.
- Nationally recognized certification in field.
- Associate’s degree in the teaching discipline and/or postsecondary training, specialized training, licensure/certification in field (if applicable) with an emphasis on competence gained through work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population
Salary/Benefits: Salary range is commensurate with previous work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
