FLSA Designation: Exempt
Work Hours: 8-5, Mon-Fri (must be willing to work additional hours as needed); Effective 1/1/09: College-wide hours potentially changing to 4-day workweek.
Nature of Duties: Responsible for day to day operation of WCTC’s Douglas Campus library. Primary responsibilities include circulation services, reference services, library instruction, and materials selection for a small branch library. Provides budget input, selects and maintains an up-to-date library resource collection, to include available online resources as well as hard copy library resources. Assesses needs, develops justification for purchase orders and maintains library materials and equipment. Prepares and submits various internal and external narrative and statistical reports and disseminates information. Supervises a library assistant and student assistants. May chair or serve on institution committees. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in library field.
Minimum Qualifications: A Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited institution. Excellent oral, strong interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to work as a team member. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to deal with people utilizing tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Must know how to use and implement electronic information technologies, electronic media, and electronic technologies as well as hard cover library resources. Experience with Internet research. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as position may at times require both day and evening hours.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants with at least three years of paid library related work experience within the past seven years, Microsoft Office experience and/or GALILEO experience.
Salary/Benefits: Salary range starts in low $40’s. Benefits include paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
