Reports to: Instructional Manager
FLSA Designation: Exempt (requires minimum of 40 hours per week on campus)
Nature of Duties: Under general supervision prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests; maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports; attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences; ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area; meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues; assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Teaches CIS courses in a classroom/lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Position may require committee and project assignments as well as day/evening classes and activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or related field
- Recent teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population
- Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Teaching experience at the postsecondary level
- Ability to cross over in the following areas: PC maintenance and repair, programming, networking, Oracle, Web Site Design, Web Development, 2D and 3D Graphics Software Applications (3D Studio Max, Illustrator, Flash, Bryce, Maya, Poser & Photoshop), Video Editing, Video Production, and Forensics Graphics Software.
- Current and relevant industry certifications (MCSE, A+, Net+, Security+ preferred)
Salary/Benefits: Salary range begins at $40,000. Benefits include paid state holidays, vacation, retirement, personal and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
