Teen Driver’s Education Registration Packet
Before Your Teenager Gets Behind the Wheel...

With the new Joshua’s Law in effect which requires that 16-year olds take an approved driver’s education course to obtain a driver’s license, beginning January 1, 2007, all 16 year-olds applying for a Class D driver's license must complete one of the two options:
- An approved driver education course AND complete a total of 40 hours of supervised driving, 6 hours of which must be at night, with a parent or guardian's sworn verification that these driving requirements have been met.
And
- A 30 and 6 driver's education course is a course that consists of at least 30 hours of classroom training on the rules of the road and other related matters and 6 hours of behind the wheel training, where the student is driving the vehicle while an approved instructor observes and coaches the student's driving performance. Insurance companies require teen drivers to complete a 30 and 6 hour course before offering any premium discounts.
With over ten thousand 15 and 16-year olds in our four county service area, we expect this course to be widely received by the students and their parents. This 30-hour course will also make a significant contribution to the community by keeping our young drivers and our roadways safer.
We are prepared to offer these classes with a DDS-approved curriculum and state-certified driving instructors throughout our four-county service area, including Carroll, Douglas, Haralson and Coweta county high schools.
