West Central Technical College Director of Continuing Education Anita Jones has been named a Certified Economic Development Trainer by the Technical College System of Georgia.
Jones recently completed the intensive 18-24 month program that was designed to support technical college vice presidents of economic development programs and state-level personnel of TCSG whose job responsibilities support business and industry training and Georgia’s economic development.
“We congratulate Anita for her excellent work in completing the CEDT program,” President Dr. Skip Sullivan said. “CEDT is an important credential because it shows our College’s commitment to excellence in customer service through economic development services.
The Certified Economic Developer Trainer program was initiated in 1986 by the Technical College System of Georgia in response to the increasing importance of high quality workforce training for Georgia’s business and industrial prospects. The mission of the program is to foster quality and consistency of the Quick Start program and all economic development services on a statewide basis through a diverse and rigorous curriculum.
The CEDT program goal is to assure that all Georgia businesses receive the same high level of professional support. Jones earned her certification by demonstrating the knowledge and skills needed to effectively join in Georgia’s economic development efforts. The qualified CEDT can display the acronym “CEDT” on her business card and stationary.
West Central Technical College, with campuses in Carroll, Coweta, Douglas and Haralson counties, offers over 90 associate degree, diploma and technical certificate programs of study. A unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, West Central last year served over 10,000 students including credit enrollment, adult education, ESL classes, continuing education and corporate training.
